2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV vs the Competition

Like the Silverado, the Tesla Cybertruck is new, but its polarizing looks and expensive launch models have struggled to find mass appeal. The Cybertruck is for buyers drawn to the segment’s apex, where power and capability are more prized than frugality.

• The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV offers considerably more standard power and torque than the 2026 Tesla Cybertruck, with 645 horsepower and 765 pound-feet of torque. The Cybertruck comes standard with just 593 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque.
• While the range-topping Silverado RST offers less horsepower than the Cyberbeast (834 hp vs. 760 hp), the Silverado makes up the difference with an advantage in torque (785 lb-ft vs. 740 lb-ft).
• The standard Silverado EV Crew Cab can tow up to 12,500 pounds; the Cybertruck is limited to 11,000.
• Cabin space heavily favors the Silverado, which offers more headroom, legroom, hiproom, and shoulder room in both the front and rear rows.
• The Silverado EV offers a smaller turning circle (42.0 feet vs. 43.5 feet), making it easier to maneuver and park in tight spaces.
• Both the Silverado and Cybertruck offer similar bed lengths. The Tesla bed is 72.9 inches long, while the Silverado bed is 71.0 inches.
• The Silverado EV comes standard with Google Built-In infotainment and a Bose premium audio.
• The Silverado EV’s conventional bed style more readily accommodates large, boxy items and makes it easier to access them from the ground without reaching.

While the Rivian R1T was considered the wild child of the segment when it debuted in 2021, it’s now part of the “old guard” of electric pickups. The R1T was just updated in 2026 to help it keep up with its competitors.

• The 2026 Silverado EV (645 horsepower) offers more standard power than the Rivian R1T (533 hp) and more torque (765 lb-ft vs. 610 lb-ft).
• Comparing optional powertrains gives the R1T the power advantage. Its tri-motor variant produces 850 horsepower (vs. 760 for the Chevy) and 1,103 lb-ft of torque (vs. 785).
• Cabin space heavily favors the Silverado, which offers more leg, hip, and shoulder room in both the front and rear rows. Only the second-row headroom favors the Rivian (39.7 inches vs. 38.7 inches).
• The standard R1T offers more payload capacity than the Chevrolet. That script flips when you opt for the high-performance, max-range versions of each truck, where the Silverado offers more than 200 pounds of additional payload capacity.
• Towing capacity is another win for the standard Silverado, which offers 12,500 pounds of towing versus 11,000 for the Rivian.
